Ren Bug is a multidisciplinary fiber artist specializing in quilting, knitting, beading, and rug making. Her work deals with concepts related to escapism, interpersonal relationships, loss, and nostalgia. Much of Bug’s work begins in the pages of her sketchbook. Through the use of different fiber processes she is able to translate visual narratives of a world, Somewhere Not Here, and the strange characters that live within it, to our three dimensional plane. Her work, oftentimes bordering a line between playful and melancholy, confronts the growing pains of life.
